 Quest[1]="What is the difference between saying God or Jesus?"
 Ans[1]="Christians believe in one God who is the creator of all that exists, earth, sun, universes, everything. Many religions are the product of human minds thinking up what they imagine god or heaven must be like. In contrast to that, God has revealed Himself to His people for the expressed purpose that they be a “kingdom of priests,” that is that they would tell the rest of the world about Him. In His divine wisdom, God has revealed Himself to have three job descriptions: these He calls Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Usually when we say “God” we are referring either to the one true God or to “God the Father.” <br><br>When the time was right, God sent His only begotten Son (John 3.16) to earth so that through His sacrifice on the cross you and I could receive eternal life. From the very beginning, sin had a penalty: it had to be paid for with a blood sacrifice. When Adam and Eve sinned, they realized they were naked. To cover their nakedness, God gave them the skins of animals. Of course, to get those skins, the animals had to die. They died to cover the evidence of Adam’s and Eve’s sin. Throughout the first part of the Bible, the Old Testament, we are told of the daily and special sacrifices that were made to atone for sin, but they had to be offered over and over, day after day and year after year. When Jesus died on the cross, however, it was the perfect sacrifice, once for all. It never needs to be repeated. (Hebrews 7.27 and 10.10) Jesus wants every person to know that He died in our place, because although He was perfect without sin we are all sinners who deserve death. When we accept Him as our Savior and give Him power over our life, God gives us Jesus’ righteousness which qualifies us for eternal life.<br><br>After Jesus died, He was in the tomb for three days. Then He rose from the dead and showed Himself to many people over a period of forty days. He then ascended toHeaven to take His rightful place at the Father’s right hand, the place of power. He knew we would have a difficult time remaining faithful to Him by ourselves, so He promised before He left that He would send the Holy Spirit to be with us and to live within believers so that we would have the power to live Christian lives. It is only by the power of the Holy Spirit that anyone even inquires about God. Your questions tell me that He is working on you to make you curious. This seems like three gods, but it really is only one. We call the concept “the trinity,” although that word never appears in the Bible. We see all three job descriptions of God working at the same time when Jesus is baptized by John the Baptist in Matthew 3.16. Jesus is baptized, the Spirit descends on Him and the Father speaks at the same time. The trinity is a difficult concept, one that confuses most people who try to think through it logically. To me, God is so much more than I can ever understand that I don’t have a problem with accepting on faith that He can appear in three different ways without being three separate gods. He is one God."

 Quest[2]="How do I know if Jesus is talking to me?"
 Ans[2]="The short answer is, if you’re inquiring about Him, He is! The Bible tells us that no one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws him (or her). The fact that you want to know about Jesus tells me that God is awakening in you the desire to know the Truth, and Jesus said, “I am the Truth. . .” He is the truth about God, the exact representation of the Father. Jesus even said that if those who have seen Him have seen the Father! And that those who believe in Him, believe in the Father.<br><br> Beyond that, if a person already believes, how can they tell if Jesus is speaking to them? We are in the middle of a twelve week Bible study about that right now,so obviously that is a very big question. I can’t go into it fully without writing a book, so let me just say this. When Jesus speaks to us He can do it in several ways, including through the Bible, circumstances, other believers (the church) and through prayer. When it is Him speaking, He will never contradict the Bible, so that is a test we can apply.<br><br>"

 Quest[3]="If Jesus is inside my heart and in my life, why do I need to pray?"
 Ans[3] ="Of course, Jesus knows how we feel and what we think, even before we think or feel it. More than that, He hurts when we do and cries when we do. He actually feels our pain! And our happiness! In Acts 9,Saul encounters Jesus on the road and Jesus asks why Saul is persecuting Him. But if you read Acts, you know that Jesus went to heaven in Chapter 2, so how could Saul be persecuting Him? Saul was persecuting Jesus’ followers and Jesus felt the pain of it personally. So, if Jesus knows this much about us, why do we need to pray?<br><br>The answer to that is Jesus’ own example. Even though He and the Father are One, we see Jesus praying to the Father before every major step of His life. Most have heard of the prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane when Jesus prayed for three hours before He was arrested and crucified (see Matthew 26.36 and Mark 14.32), but not many realize that He prayed all night before He chose His disciples (see Luke 6.12-16).<br><br>God wants all of us to spend time with Him in prayer. A few people are called to a ministry of prayer and delight in praying for hours. It’s like walking hand-in-hand with someone we love."
 Ansby[3]="Pastor Chuck"

 Quest[4]="Why do we need to pray right in the morning, before doing activities?"
 Ans[4]="I feel better when I’ve started my day off with prayer. If God is the first one I talk to and/or think about, it sets my day up right. But I don’t know that it is a pattern that everyone must follow. Each of us finds the time that suits us best. Often I go to sleep praying, too, knowing that while I am unconscious, God is taking care of me."
 Ansby[4]="Pastor Chuck"

 Quest[5]="Do I have to close my eyes, get down on my knees, and hold my hands together to pray? And why?"
 Ans[5]=" Kneeling with hands folded and eyes closed is a cultural tradition. When we read the Bible, we find people standing up with eyes open and hands raised, kneeling, lieing down, many different postures. How we hold our body isn’t what’s important, it’s how we prepare our heart that makes the difference. Closing your eyes sometimes helps to shut out distractions, but it isn’t necessary every time you pray. When my wife and I have devotions, we sit on the couch beside each other and read the Bible, read someone’s comments, sometimes sing and always hold hands to pray. No one posture is “right,” they all are right. I have used them all, depending on my mood and what I thought God was telling me."
 Ansby[5]="Pastor Chuck"

 Quest[6]="How would I know if Jesus is listening to me when I pray?"
 Ans[6]="Psalm 34, verse 17 says “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them.” This is only one of many verses that say your prayer will be heard and answered. You might look up some of the following: John 14.14; Matthew 18.19; Matthew 7.7; Matthew 21.22; Luke 11.10; Romans 8.32 and in the book of First John (near the end of the New Testament) look at 3.22 and 5.14-15."

 Quest[7]="You have heard people say that God made people, is that true?"
 Ans[7]="That is true. To me, the idea that some how order evolved from chaos is directly contradicted daily in our world. It would be like blowing up a lumber yard and expecting everything to fall down and make ahouse. Yes, I believe that God created me. If you understand the way things work together, you begin to realize that the interdependence couldn’t have happened without a creator any more than a skyscraper could be built without an architect. Consider the cleaner wrasse, a 3-inch fish of Australia’s barrier reef. A large fish such as a sea bass will hover near the wrasse’s hole in the reef while the wrasse comes out and goes over the big fish inch by inch, including inside its mouth, looking for parasites. The wrasse eats these things, preserving the life of the sea bass. The sea bass, an eater of smaller fish, never eats the wrasse, however, and will return to the same one two or three times each week to get cleaned again. Questions: If the wrasse evolved first, what did the wrasse eat before there were sea bass (or other big fish) to clean? Who told them to start eating parasites? Who told the big fish not to eat the wrasse? If the sea bass evolved first, how did they live without wrasses to clean them? The fact is, the two had to evolve simultaneously foreither to live, and mathematically the odds are zillions to one against that. If all this is true about fish, how much more complicated are humans? More importantly, if we just evolved, to whom do we answer? No one! If evolution is true, what logically happens to us upon death? We’re gone. There is nothing more. But, if we are created by a God, we answer to Him. And if He can create us, He can also provide for more than a physical lifetime. If He created us in His own image, then we are able to know Him and have fellowship with Him. Aside from the science of creation vs. evolution, I want to be created so that I know God cares for and about me. There is much more about this topic, but first it would be helpful for you to know the God who created and loves you."

 Quest[8]="Does God make love?"
 Ans[8]="Our sexuality is a gift God gave us for both pleasure and having children. Although God chose to reveal himself in a masculine context (we refer to Him with masculine pronouns), He exhibits all the character traits that we associate with both male and female. He also uses feminine imagery to describe his feelings at times. I don’t think God has any need for sexual love, but loves each of us with a pure love that wants the best for us. That is why He finally revealed Himself in His Son, Jesus Christ, so that God, Himself (as Christ was and is), could pay the penalty for our sin and make those who accept Jesus as Lord and Savior acceptable to God."
 Ansby[8]="Pastor Chuck"

 Quest[9]="Do people go to hell when they are really bad?"
 Ans[9]="That depends. If a person accepts Christ, the Bible tells us all their sins are forgiven, so no matter what they’ve done, they go to heaven. The worst sin is to reject God’s love by not accepting Jesus, and God says that alone will buy us a ticket to hell, even if the rest of our life is as good as it can be. Of course, if Jesus really is someone’s Savior, that person would want to be good because Jesus says, “If you love me, obey my commands.”"

 Quest[10]="Is there such a thing like the Devil and witches?"
 Ans[10]="The Bible tells us that there is an adversary, Satan or the Devil, who is the prince of this world. During His ministry, Jesus repeatedly cast out demons from people, and they were servants of Satan. In addition, at the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, Satan appeared to Him to tempt Jesus to do wrong, but he was unsuccessful. If there is no devil, where does all the evil in the world come from?"
 Ansby[10]="Pastor Chuck"

 Quest[11]="I have a dream of what I wanted to do. Is Jesus going to help me and make it to come true?"
 Ans[11]="It depends. First, He won’t help someone who doesn’t believe in Him. Next, if you do believe in Him, is the dream something He wants you to do? You see, many believe Jesus is their Savior (He saved them from their sin.), but He also asks to be Lord of your life. If you truly love Him, you will trust Him to lead you where He wants you to go. Sometimes we have to give up our own dreams."
 Ansby[11]="Pastor Chuck"

 Quest[12]="Does God hate people, the kind of person who is really bad?"
 Ans[12]="Strangely, God doesn’t hate bad people. John 3.16 says “God so loved the world that He sent His only Son, that whoever would believe on Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” That love came to us before anybody did anything to show love for God. He loves each of us as though we were the only one available for Him to love. But, He does not love the bad things we do. These He calls “sin,” and He hates sin with all His passion! Sin can not be in the presence of God because He is holy, perfect."

  Quest[13]="Does God make a man and woman love each other, like Cupid?"
  Ans[13]="God doesn’t cause love, He is love. (See 1 John 4.7-8) We love because God first loved us. His love is the pattern and example of how we are to love one another, including husband and wife. While I don’t think God is in the Cupid business, I still believe He has a part in two people coming together. My wife and I began praying when our daughter was 15 years old that God would bring her a husband who would be a spiritual match for her. The Lord waited until she was a senior in college, then sent a preacher from New foundland, Canada, to Ashland, Ohio, so they could meet. They have been married for over six years now! In the meantime, she had dated other Christians, but kept herself pure for the right man. I don’t know if God arranges every marriage, and I can’t tell you theirs will last forever, but I’m pretty sure God had a hand in it."

  Quest[14]="I have always loved music. Will Jesus help my dream of becoming a singer come true?"
  Ans[14]="God gives us many gifts when He makes us in our mother’s womb .One man, Eric Liddell from Scotland, was a very fast runner. He found a way to use his speed for God’s glory, running in the Olympic games. The story is on video as Chariots of Fire, and it’s very exciting! Your gift of music is one that can be used for God or for selfish desires. That choice is yours. For example, we have a praise team that leads us in a few songs at the beginning of our worship. You could become part of that, using your voice to glorify God. Or you could learn some of the modern secular songs that promote sex and drugs and violence. No one can make that choice but you. If you sing for Jesus, He may help you become a famous singer if that is what is best for you. Damaris Carbaugh was just a choir member with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, but now she is a very successful solo performer, so it does happen! And I’m confident that God’s hand was in her success."

  Quest[15]="Some people say that a dream is a sign from God. Is that true? Are nightmares from Satan?"
  Ans[15]="About dreams, nightmares and signs from God, we must be very careful. Some are very clearly from God, and we see examples of that in the Bible. I have also known people who were sure they had dreams sent by God. At the same time, dreams are also produced by our subconscious minds, so they may not be from God at all. That is true with nightmares, too. While I am sure that Satan can produce them, I’m not at all sure how often he does. I wouldn’t worry about his activities, since he is a liar and the father of lies. But if a dream is from God, it will be consistent with what we read in the Bible. God will never contradict His Word."

  Quest[16]="Does God ever give people signs to warn them of danger?"
  Ans[16]="Signs of warning from God are not unheard of at all. I read an account of a young man who was lost in a fog in Wales, England. He was convinced to stop where he was and wait for daylight instead of trying to find his way home. The next morning, he discovered that two more steps would have plunged him over a cliff to his certain death. He said God warned him, and I believe it. I have had God tell me when I need to go to see some people. Once, I went to see an elderly lady in the hospital and she died as I entered her room. Since I was there to call for help, the doctors and nurses were able to revive her. I’m sure that was God working in my life!"
  Ansby[16]="Pastor Chuck"

  Quest[17]="How does God change people’s lives?"
  Ans[17]="God changes people’s lives in many ways. For a young person like you, the changes may look more like growing up than like a metamorphosis. When a young person allows Jesus to shape her life, she will become more and more like Him, loving, obedient, serving others, doing the right thing. The problem is, often that person was already like that to some degree, so maybe they’re just more that way after they accept Jesus. But, when you’re a Christian, the difference in how you act is because of Christ. He becomes the reason for your behavior, where before you just did it for your own reasons. The biggest change when you accept Christ is in where you are going, ultimately. Before, you were doomed to eternal punishment, but now you are promised eternal life with Christ! What a change that is!! Other changes will come if you allow Him to work in you. To do that, you need to begin to learn more about Jesus. It takes a lifetime and more, and the best way to do that is to worship Him with other Christians, go to Sunday School and Youth Fellowship, and become involved in a church. When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us. As He changes us, we begin to bear the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. (Galatians 5.22)"

  Quest[18]="How do you know so much about God? I wish I knew more about God!"
  Ans[18]=" I have read a lot of books, sat in a lot of classes, listened to a lot of sermons and Sunday school lessons, given a lot of both of those, just done a lot of things that deal with God. I listen to Christian radio (WCRF, 103.3 fm). I also pray quite a bit. The Bible is the best starting place, and the primary source of information. Anything that contradicts it is misleading you. But after the Bible, there are many good books that can help you know there is a God. The best teacher is Nature itself. If you look at a building, you know there is anarchitect and a builder, because it didn’t make itself. If you know enough about how a tree or an animal or a person works, you quickly realize that they couldn’t have made themselves, there had to be a Creator, and He is the one to worship, not anything less. Once you give your life to Christ, the Holy Spirit begins to teach you and guide you into all truth. (See John 14.15-17 and16.12-13)"

  Quest[19]="My best friend told me he does not believe in God. I want him to believe , what can i do?"
  Ans[19]="That's a great question. It is really hard to help someone who doesn't believe but there are ways to do it. The best thing that you can do is to pray about it. That has a tremendous affect on people. It might take a while but definetly pray. Also, you could make it a habit of talking to him on other days than sunday. You might want to talk about God to him or just hint at it for a while. When he starts asking questions be prepared with a bible on hand. Another thing to do is just encourage him. As Christians we are supposed to encourage one another to take steps forward. You might want to show him how much you care through actions, tell him if he ever needs someone to talk to or cry on that you will be there. You could explain to him why being a Christian is so important to you and why he is so important to you. I hope this helped!"
